Learn to make the April Showers Anorak. A real raincoat in miniature, with a tiny zip, drawstring bottom and hood, we think this little coat is a work of art. We like to see it worn with the April Showers Outfit, but it is an essential for all Lakeland-dwelling folk! Please scroll to the description for some tips and tricks on working with PU.

Due to the coated nature of the fabric in this kit, we would advise
1. Not using pins when cutting out – you could make a cardboard template of the pattern and draw around the shapes.
2. Not using pins when constructing – wonderclips would work well here.
3. Not using an iron. The surface print will smudge, and the fabric might melt. This will mean certain parts of the instructions will be harder to achieve – like the topstitching across the front edge near the zip.

Our Make Me April Showers Anorak kits include easy-to-read instructions, beautiful photography, and clear diagrams demonstrating the sewing steps. We are sure that if you read the instructions carefully, you will be successful in your sewing, but if you have any questions (or just want to show off your work), join
Luna Lapin’s Little World, our helpful Facebook community.

The April Showers Anorak is one of our more advanced projects because it requires experience with some trickier sewing techniques, such as inserting a zip and working with technical fabrics, in this case, oilcloth. We recommend you are a confident stitcher for this project, though we have tried to make it as simple as can be. This project is designed to be machine-sewn, but a very patient person could do it by hand. All the clothes in the Luna Lapin collection (unless stated otherwise) will fit Luna and all her friends. We love to see Ottoline Otter wearing it.
