Learn to make the Kantha Jacket and Barrel Leg Jean. This outfit was designed by Sarah Peel using fabrics from our friends at Cloth Atelier. Together, we curated the smallest-scale Indian block prints in the most joyful colours. For the Kantha jacket, Sarah has drawn inspiration from East Asian textiles and her own Indian adventures and storytelling.
Because of the handmade nature of the fabric, and because we wanted to mimic the ethos of the Kantha, supplies are limited, so the selection is slightly random but always beautiful.

Our Make Me Kantha kits include easy-to-read instructions, beautiful photography, and clear diagrams demonstrating the sewing steps. We are sure that if you read the instructions carefully, you will be successful in your sewing, but if you have any questions (or just want to show off your work), join Luna Lapin’s Little World, our helpful Facebook community.
The Kantha Coat is one of our simpler projects because it requires only basic sewing techniques and you are dealing with easy to handle fabrics. This project is designed to be machine-sewn, but a very patient person could do it by hand. All the clothes in the Luna Lapin collection (unless stated otherwise) will fit Luna and all her friends. We love to see Uma the Elephant wearing it.
