The Mave Skirt sewing pattern from True Bias. Mave is an elastic waist skirt with a drawstring, in-seam pockets and an optional lining. The skirt can be made with or without ruffles in different lengths to create numerous options.

Main: Light to medium weight fabrics with drape (54″ or wider for sizes 0 – 18 / 58″ or wider for sizes 14 – 30). Examples include rayon challis, crepe, linen, cotton lawn, voile, silk, chiffon, and georgette.

Lining (optional): Lightweight fabrics with drape (54″ or wider for all sizes). Examples include rayon challis, crepe, linen, cotton lawn, voile, chiffon, and georgette.

Fabric requirements: 

Sizes 0 – 18

Main: 54″ (137 cm) or wider fabric: Mini length, 1.6 yd (1.5 m) // Midi length, 2 yd (1.8 m) // Maxi length, 2.5 yd (2.3 m).

Lining: 54″ (137 cm) or wider fabric: Mini length, 1.4 yd (1.3 m) // Midi length, 1.7 yd (1.6 m) // Maxi length, 2.2 yd (2 m).

Sizes 14 – 30

Main: 58″ (147 cm) or wider fabric: Mini length, 2.1 yd (2 m) // Midi length, 2.5 yd (2.3 m) // Maxi length, 3 yd (2.7 m).

Lining: 54″ (137 cm) or wider fabric: Mini length, 1.2 yd (1.1 m) // Midi length, 1.7 yd (1.6 m) // Maxi length, 2.2 yd (2 m).

Note: The size ranges have been drafted from different blocks. The 14 – 30 block has a 1″ larger difference between the waist and hip circumference. Both size ranges are drafted for an average height of 5’5″.

Notions: Coordinating thread; 1 1/4 yd (sizes 0 – 18) or 1 1/2 yd (sizes 14 – 30) of 2″ wide elastic; 1″ x 3″ scrap of lightweight fusible interfacing // Optional: Aglets or beads for drawstring.
