Olive the Big Cordy Elephant

Our Make Me Olive kits include easy-to-read instructions, beautiful photography, and clear diagrams demonstrating the sewing steps. Olive the Elephant is one of our intermediate projects mostly because she is made in a jumbo cord (but you could choose to make her in linen or felt), which might be a new fabric to some. There is nothing in her construction that you should struggle with if you have some sewing experience.  This project is designed to be machine-sewn, but a very patient person could do it by hand.

Ingredients (either in this kit or you will need)

• Instructions
• Paper pattern
• 50cm(20in) x 150cm(60in) Soft Grey Jumbo Cord,
• 20cm(8in) x 18cm(7in)of Raw White 100% Wool Felt,
• small square of Mist 100% Wool Felt
• iron on medium interfacing
• bobbin of tonal unbranded thread
• 2 x 1cm (3/8in) diameter safety eyes
• 4 x 2.3cm (15/16in) buttons for arms and legs
•  doll needle, and a suitable hand sewing needle.

You will also need

• A sewing machine
• Iron
• Scissors
• Pins
• Normal sewing needle
• A small amount of off white sewing thread
• A knitting needle/chopstick for turning through/stuffing Ernest.
• We highly recommend using a  mattress needle to stitch on the arms and legs.
• Roughly 250-300gm stuffing.

Olive the elephant and her wardrobe are the property of Sarah Peel and CoolCrafting.

Please note due to the nature of some of the components we cannot regard Olive as a toy and she should not be given to small children as there is a risk that the buttons used in construction could be swallowed.
