Luna x Shakespeare Pattern – The Queen of the Fairies Outfit

The Shakespeare Box patterns are available as both a paper pattern and as a PDF. We have chosen to separate the Moon Hare from her Queen of the Fairies outfit.

The Queen of the Fairies Pattern contains the Fairy wings, the Elizabethan Bodice, the Petal Skirt, and the Simple Skirt.

The Moon Hare Pattern contains the pattern to make the naked Moon Hare only.

Enter the Queen of the Fairies! With two skirt options, one simple and one made to look like gossamer or petals, and a very clever, beautiful, Elizabethan-inspired petal bodice, this outfit is full of Shakespearean magic. Though it will fit Luna Lapin and all her friends, we designed the body shape of the Moon Hare especially to fit this bodice.

Our Make Me kits include easy-to-read instructions with beautiful photography and clear diagrams demonstrating the sewing steps. We are sure that if you read the instructions carefully, you will be successful in your sewing, but if you have any questions (or just want to show off your work), join Luna Lapin’s Little World, our helpful Facebook community.

The Queen of Fairies Outfit is one of our more intermediate projects because of its design and fabric choices. We recommend that you have prior experience making clothing (person or Luna-sized). This project is designed to be machine-sewn, but a very patient person could do it by hand. All the clothes in the Luna Lapin collection (unless stated otherwise) will fit Luna and all her friends.

Ingredients (either in this kit or you will need)
27cm x 45cm cotton velvet, 1 metre skinny satin ribbon, 8 metal eyes, Liberty for
lining the bodice (use from the skirt allowance).

Simple Skirt
30cm x 140cm Liberty lawn (used to line the bodice too), 22cm 10cord elastic.

The Petal Skirt
100cm x 140cm ivory dress net (used in Fairy wings too) 22cm 10cord elastic, invisible thread.

You will also need Tonal thread, scissors, a sewing machine, pins,  a safety pin and the usual tools – a rotary cutter, ruler and mat will be helpful in cutting the ruffle strips, if you have them.
